Commercial Department

Hank Rassel, MAI, AI-GRS

Hank is a Principal and the President of Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc.  He also serves as the Director of Commercial Services in Indianapolis. This position includes the responsibilities of managing the office, reviewing staff appraisers' work product, training new employees, negotiating appraisal fees and contracts, and marketing of the company's services. Throughout his appraisal career he has specialized exclusively in commercial valuation and consulting, completing appraisal assignments in various Midwestern States. Hank has completed a wide variety of commercial appraisal assignments ranging from residential planned unit developments, low income and conventional multi-family housing, office buildings, shopping centers, industrial buildings, and assisted living properties, etc. Hank is also experienced as an expert witness for litigation and tax appeal cases. He is a Certified General Appraiser in the state of Indiana and also holds a Real Estate Broker's License. He has been awarded the MAI and the AI-GRS (General Review Specialist) designations from the Appraisal Institute. Hank is a member of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS and the Indiana Commercial Board of REALTORS. In addition, he is a graduate of Indiana University where he received his BS in Public Finance. Hank has been active and is a past president of his church, and has coached youth soccer, softball and basketball.

David Lawrence, MAI

David is a Senior Appraiser and a Principal with Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc. and has been active in commercial real estate since 1991. His real estate experience encompasses many facets of the industry, including: appraisal, underwriting, loan origination, and acquisition/development analysis. David has over 15-years of commercial appraisal experience and has expertise in a variety of property uses, including: multi-family residential, industrial, retail, hotels, and multi-use land development. He has extensive discounted cash flow experience and is proficient with Excel and Argus software. David is a General Certified Appraiser in Indiana and is a MAI Member of the Appraisal Institute. In addition to appraising, David's employment experience includes working for a mortgage banking firm, Pedcor Capital Corporation, and a multi-family developer, Pedcor Community Development. While at Pedcor, David was directly involved in developing and financing of multi-family residential projects. He is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Real Estate.

Shaun W. Wilson, MAI

Shaun is a Principal and Senior Appraiser with Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc., having joined the firm in 2003.  He has been a commercial real estate appraiser since 1998, and his appraisal experience includes the preparation of appraisals on a variety of existing and proposed properties.  Property types appraised include vacant land, industrial, retail, multifamily, commercial and industrial subdivision developments, and office properties, as well as senior housing facilities.  He has extensive discounted cash flow experience and is proficient with Excel and Argus software.  Shaun graduated from Indiana University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance-Real Estate and a minor in Mathematics.  He is currently a State Certified General Appraiser in Indiana and has been awarded the MAI designation by the Appraisal Institute.

Doug G. Cooper, MAI

Doug is a Senior Appraiser and a Principal with Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc. and has been an active commercial real estate appraiser since 2002. He has completed a variety of assignments including retail, office, industrial and hotel/motels.  He specializes in residential developments including residential land, single-family residential subdivisions, condominium/townhome developments and mixed-use developments with residential components.  He has completed over 100 assignments in the last 5 years related to residential real estate.  He is currently a State Certified General Appraiser in Indiana and has been awarded the MAI designation by the Appraisal Institute.  Doug has a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate/Finance for Indiana University Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis. He has extensive discounted cash flow experience and is proficient with Excel and Argus software.  

Monty J. Ewing

Monty Ewing is a principal and senior appraiser at Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc., and has been there since September of 1999.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance/Real Estate from the Indiana University School of Business.  He concentrated on financial analysis, with emphasis on accounting principles, micro, macro and statistical economics.  He has served as Treasurer and President of the Kappa Sigma chapter of Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity, and is currently Treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 109 in Fishers, and President of Riverside Junior High School PTO for the 2015-2016 school year.  From November of 1989 to August of 1999 he worked with another local commercial real estate appraisal and consulting firm in Indianapolis.  Duties there included appraisal and real estate market analysis of investment grade property.  He has completed assignments for office and industrial properties, as well as multifamily, retail, and special use projects in Indianapolis and regional cities.  He is a specialist in auto dealership properties.  He is effective with computer applications for real estate market analysis and discounted cash flow analysis, to include ARGUS.  Other computer applications include Microsoft Word and Excel.  He is also experienced in court testimony regarding real estate appraisals.  Monty is a Candidate of the Appraisal Institute, and has completed all coursework toward the MAI designation, completed experience credit review, and passed the comprehensive exam.  He was a licensed Real Estate broker in Indiana, and principal broker for Ewing Real Estate, LLC from 1992 through 2011.  He is currently licensed as a certified general appraiser in Indiana (#CG69201403).

Lucas Grecco, MAI

Lucas joined Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc. in June 2017 after graduating from Indiana University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Financial Management and a minor in Financial Literacy from the Kelley School of Business. He is a Certified General Appraiser in the State of Indiana and was awarded the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2024. During his time with Don R. Scheidt & Co., Lucas has gained experience appraising a wide variety of property types such as industrial, general and medical office, mixed-use properties, multi-family, special-use properties, vacant land, and retail, such as ground lease properties and shopping centers. He has discounted cash flow experience and is proficient with both Excel and Argus software.

Denise Klivansky

Denise Klivansky is a Certified General Appraiser in the State of Indiana and has been in the appraisal industry since 2000. She has performed appraisal assignments of office uses - business, medical and dental, retail properties including freestanding and retail centers, restaurants and convenience stores, car washes, industrial use properties including self-storage, agricultural use properties consisting of farms and land, special use properties including schools and religious uses, residential use properties including single family dwellings, apartments, mobile home parks and condominium developments, commercial, industrial and residential subdivisions and development land. These assignments span the State of Indiana but have primarily been in the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area and surrounding counties. She has appraised properties for various governmental agencies and third party companies for eminent domain purposes. Prior to her appraisal career, she was involved in the sale of predominantly residential and multi-family use properties from 1984 to 2000. She’s held an Indiana Real Estate Broker’s License since 1985 and an Indiana Real Estate Sales License since 1980. She has held a Certified General Appraiser license since 2007.

Grant A. Kellow

Grant is a recent addition to Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc. having joined the firm in June 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan’s DeVoe School of Business. Prior to earning his degree, Grant spent 7 years serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and is a veteran of OIF and OEF. Since joining Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc. Grant has gained valuable experience appraising a variety of real estate that include industrial, office, retail, vacant land, and special use properties. He is currently working towards attaining his General Appraiser license in the state of Indiana.

Holden Schneider

Holden joined Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc. in June 2021 after graduating from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a concentration in Real Estate from the Kelley School of Business. He has obtained his Certified General Appraiser license in the state of Indiana. During his time with Don R. Scheidt & Co., Holden has gained experience appraising a variety of property types such as industrial, office, retail, multi-family residential, commercial land, and special-use properties. Prior to his employment with Don R. Scheidt & Co., Holden previously worked in retail banking at BMO Harris Bank during college. Holden enjoys everything automotive related and likes to spend his free time exercising, playing and watching soccer, as well as spending time with his friends and family.

Kyle Thomas

Kyle Thomas joined Don R. Scheidt & Co., Inc. in October 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Kelley School of Business. Since joining Don R. Scheidt & Co., he has gained valuable experience appraising a variety of real estate property types including office, industrial, retail, multi-family, vacant commercial land, and special-use properties. Kyle enjoys spending time with his friends and family, hiking and being outdoors, and watching basketball. He is currently in the process of obtaining his Certified General Appraiser license in the state of Indiana.

Residential Department

Troy A. Boyer

Troy is a Certified Residential Appraiser that has been active in real estate since 2002. His real estate experience includes: residential appraisals, residential appraisal review, court testimony, and loan origination. Troy has over ten years of appraisal experience and has appraised a variety of property types. Valuations have been performed on various property types including, but not limited to land and residential properties, including one to four unit multi-family residential dwellings. The purpose of these valuations is for mortgage loans, marriage dissolutions, pre-listing appraisals, high end residential properties, estate planning, insurance settlement, relocations, etc. Troy graduated from Indiana University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. He is currently a State Certified Residential Appraiser in Indiana and is an Associate Member of the Appraisal Institute.
